Guess who delayed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by several years?

Former President Trump revealed in an exclusive interview on Fox News that his strong relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin had a significant impact on delaying the invasion of Ukraine. Trump recounted a conversation with Putin in which he warned the Russian leader of the catastrophic consequences and “hell to pay” if an invasion were to occur.

During the interview on “Special Report” with Bret Baier, Trump emphasized the strength of his relationship with Putin, stating, “With Putin, I have a very good relationship. I mean, I haven’t spoken to him in a long while, but I had a very strong relationship.” He firmly believed that the invasion would not have taken place if he were still in office, confidently asserting, “He wouldn’t have done it if it were me. He did it after I left.”

Trump described how he conveyed his concerns to Putin, emphasizing the disastrous outcomes that would follow an invasion. Despite initial doubts from Putin, Trump asserted his determination, stating, “I told him I was going to do something. He said, ‘No, no, no, you will not do that.’ I said, ‘I will, Vladimir, I will do it. I’m going to do it.'”

According to Trump, Putin was convinced by only about 10% of what he said during their conversation, but that 10% was sufficient to deter the invasion. Trump emphasized, “It was only after I left [office] that you started hearing about this.” The former president’s strong stance and warnings to Putin played a crucial role in delaying the conflict.

When asked about his thoughts on Ukraine as a separate country, Trump acknowledged its independence but noted that it had previously been part of Russia. He pointed out that Putin preferred the two countries to be united.

Regarding the ongoing conflict, Trump refrained from delving into the specifics of negotiations, stating it could hinder the process. However, he expressed confidence in his ability to negotiate a resolution within 24 hours, drawing on his expertise in deal-making. Trump said, “I would have a deal done in 24 hours from the time we started.

And I would tell Zelenskyy something and I would tell Putin something, and I’d get him into a room, and I’d tell him again, and again.”

Former President Trump’s revelation of his conversation with Putin sheds light on the impact of his strong relationship and warnings to the Russian leader. His swift and decisive approach to negotiations, coupled with his belief in the power of personal diplomacy, offers a glimpse into his strategy for resolving conflicts and bringing stability to the region.
