In yet another bewildering display of his mental acuity, President Biden left the audience at a Connecticut summit on gun control reform scratching their heads. As he concluded his speech, Biden mentioned a storm approaching the area and his inability to shake hands with all attendees.
But what caught everyone off guard was his remark, “Is that the truth? Now, do not make a lie – as that scene in the John Wayne movie – don’t make me a dog-faced, lying, pony-soldier,” referring to the reported incoming storm.
Connecticut, one of the original 13 colonies that fought for and declared independence from Britain in 1776, heard their President utter the phrase, “God Save the Queen, man,” before looking around, seemingly confused about where to exit the stage. It’s worth noting that the current monarch of the United Kingdom is King Charles III, as Queen Elizabeth II passed away last September.
This puzzling statement has left many questioning Biden’s cognitive abilities. Critics argue that his comment resembles the type of incoherence often associated with inebriation.
Political strategist Evan Berryhill took to Twitter, stating, “I have seen countless – and I mean countless – drunk people say something totally obscure like ‘God save the Queen’ and then jaunt around like a Joe Biden just did in an effort to play it off as if they were sober. He’s truly incapacitated.”
Even Chad Gilmartin, a deputy spokesman for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., questioned the President’s abilities, tweeting, “Watch me – Joe Biden.” The growing concerns about Biden’s cognitive state are becoming harder to ignore. OutKick founder Clay Travis wondered, “Seriously, how much longer can this keep going on?”
Given the gravity of this issue, some have suggested invoking the 25th amendment to remove the President from office. Daily Signal investigative columnist Roman Jankowski tweeted, “Will anyone invoke the 25th amendment?” Meanwhile, Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw simply responded with an image of former President Washington rolling his eyes, indicating his disappointment.
The question remains: Why did Biden make such a remark during a speech? Fox News host Neil Cavuto voiced his confusion, asking correspondent Mark Meredith if it was in response to something. The answer remains elusive, as even Meredith admitted, “We’re still trying to figure it out. Nobody’s really sure.”
Criticism has not been limited to the United States; United Kingdom natives have also chimed in. Nile Gardiner, a former aide to the late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, tweeted, “Joe Biden fully in charge of his faculties,” along with a video of Biden’s remark.
Greg Price of the State Freedom Caucus Network added humorously, “The dementia is so bad that he now thinks he’s British.”
Concerns about Biden’s mental state are not new. In 2022, dozens of Republican lawmakers, led by Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, called for the President to take a cognitive test or withdraw from the 2024 reelection bid. Their demand emphasized the importance of sound mental abilities in a President, regardless of age or political party.
As Americans, we deserve a leader who can effectively execute the duties of the Presidency. Biden’s cognitive lapses raise valid questions about his ability to serve as Chief Executive, Head of State, and Commander in Chief. The American people deserve transparency and reassurance regarding the mental fitness of our President.
