The Biden administration’s attempts to cover up the classified documents scandal through blocking congressional oversight is a blatant attack on our democracy. As Republicans, we will not stand idly by while the Democrats try to undermine the Senate’s nominations process and obstruct the constitutional duties of Congress.
Senator John Cornyn of Texas, who serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has rightfully called this situation “completely unacceptable.” He has emphasized that this goes beyond just a single criminal investigation and is a matter of national security that requires immediate attention.
We, as policymakers, have a responsibility to provide oversight into the intelligence gathering conducted by the 17 agencies under the intelligence community umbrella. We cannot let the Biden administration brush this issue under the rug and deny Congress access to vital information that is crucial for our national security.
Senator Cornyn has confirmed in a briefing with the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines that the Intelligence Committee has no information about the classified information found at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, President Biden’s garage, and former Vice President Pence’s office.
This lack of transparency is unacceptable and we must use every tool available to us to gain access to this information, including holding up judicial nominees and utilizing the power of the Senate’s purse strings.
The Democrats’ obstructionism in sharing this information with Congress is not just an attack on President Biden or President Trump or Vice President Pence, but on the American people and our national security. It is crucial that we know what information is available to our adversaries and we will not let the Biden Justice Department keep us in the dark.
The security of our nation should always come first and the Democrats’ selfish interests must not be allowed to stand in the way of that. We must hold them accountable and demand answers. The time for action is now.
