In a response to Tucker Carlson of Fox News, DeSantis referred to the conflict as a “territorial dispute” and questioned America’s role in the situation.
Vice President Kamala Harris criticized DeSantis’s understanding of the issue during an interview with Stephen Colbert.
The governor’s comments have also caused discomfort within the Republican party, with some questioning his experience with foreign policy and national security matters.
Despite the criticism, DeSantis remains popular among Republican voters and is a top contender for the 2024 presidential race.
